[DEAN-VERIFY: approved portrait to be supplied]
Dean Lenz is an Accredited Criminal Law Specialist, recognised by the Law Society of New South Wales — a distinction held by only a small number of solicitors in the state. He acts only for the accused, and appears in every court in New South Wales.
More than twenty years in criminal law
Dean has practised criminal law for more than twenty years. He began at Murphy's Lawyers, working directly with Chris Murphy on high-profile matters — learning the work where the stakes were highest — before founding Lenz Legal in 2010. In that time his practice has spanned the full breadth of the criminal list: from murder and serious violence through to coercive control, drug and traffic matters.
Dean's own hand on every case
Many matters Dean conducts and argues himself. Others call for a barrister — and over the years he has built lasting relationships with many of the state's leading silks, the senior counsel engaged in its most serious and complex cases. He has instructed them in significant matters under Lenz Legal, and he knows who to brief, and when. He understands how each court runs, and what it expects.
The result is representation matched to the matter: Dean's own hand on every case, and the right advocate brought in when it calls for one. There is no handoff to a junior — the person you speak with is the person who runs your matter.
Accredited Specialist — Criminal Law
The Accredited Specialist designation in Criminal Law is awarded by the Law Society of New South Wales to practitioners who demonstrate a high level of knowledge, skill and experience in the field, assessed through formal examination and peer review. The credential is renewed periodically and requires ongoing specialist continuing legal education. Dean holds this accreditation, and it attaches to him personally.
